The 2026 Conference

A working seminar among employment lawyers, in the heart of Oaxaca

Each year the Kathy Butler Conference brings together plaintiff-side employment lawyers from across the Fifth Circuit for a day of substantive continuing legal education and collegial exchange. In 2026 the program travels to Oaxaca de Juárez — a colonial city of green cantera stone, celebrated cuisine, and deep craft tradition.

No charge for the CLE. Attendance is open to members of the Texas Employment Lawyers Association, the Louisiana Employment Lawyers Association, and local NELA affiliates. Attendees are responsible for arranging their own flights and lodging.

The CLE runs from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., offering an estimated six hours of continuing legal education credit. The full agenda and session titles will be posted as they are confirmed.

Beyond the Seminar

Excursions — Saturday, October 10, 2026

Optional excursions around Oaxaca are being planned for the day after the CLE. Details on outings — ruins, markets, and the valleys beyond the city — are coming soon.

Most attendees arrive on Thursday and leave on Sunday or Monday, leaving time for the seminar, the excursions, and the city itself.
